What is Witness Protection? NuN4VU

WHAT IS WITNESS PROTECTION?

Witness Protection is a competitive multiplayer first-person shooter drawing inspiration from Counter-Strike, a little bit of CoD, and primarily, Wolfire's Black Shades. The game, so far, will be strictly multiplayer.

We currently have two game modes planned: VIP Escort, and Team Deathmatch.

In VIP Escort, the bodyguards have to escort a VIP to a designated point. The leader can designate points for the VIP to go. The bodyguards must protect the VIP at all costs.
The hitmen are sent to eliminate the VIP. They will have to find a weak point in the bodyguards, be it by exploiting incompetence, or killing each defender.

Team Deathmatch is self-explanatory - each team must kill their opponents. This brutal killfest is a tourney to obtain a host-determined amount of points, and will often end in lots and lots of bloodshed.
This gamemode is less focused on teamwork and coordination, and is generally more hectic.

The game will feature a ranked progression system used purely for matchmaking purposes.

The matchmaking system will be for ranked matches, where you are matched with players of similar or identical rank to you.
In addition to matchmaking, we will also be including unranked lobbies for casual play.

A smooth, fun, and beautiful multiplayer experience are things we strive for in Witness Protection, and we hope you like the end result whenever it rolls around.

WHO'S BEHIND THIS PROJECT?

Our current list of credits is as follows:

Paul "Stryke" McLennin - Programming, textures, interface design, game design, and level design.
Max "Landy" Shambles - Models, animations, textures, game design, level design, sounds, music, and voice acting (hitman announcer, bodyguard player)
Chris "Spy" Bakewell - Game design and sounds.
Cody "Dragovich" Fowler - Level design and voice acting (hitman player)
Kendrick Hunter - Voice acting ("let's roll" soundbyte, bodyguard announcer)
Rocco "Ghost" - Voice acting (VIP voice #1)

This list is bound to expand with time. We have playtesters and voice actors we're looking to bring in for later.

LANDY MADE A VIDEO IN MAY 2015 ABOUT THIS GAME, IS THIS THE SAME GAME?

If you checked out the May 2015 alpha video, you may be wondering if this is the same game.

In many ways, yes - this is very similar. The art direction is the same, as well as many of the models. The gameplay will be familiar, but a lot more polished and fun than the alpha.

At an internal level, though, no, it is not entirely the same game. The game's sounds, music, and 99% of art assets have been either modified or completely remade, and the programming has been rewritten entirely from scratch.

This is to ensure we don't strive off of an old, hacked-together codebase. That's kind of what the early alpha was. With this new version, we will focus on quality over all else.

HOW DO I GET THIS GAME?

You don't, at least not yet. We're still developing the game, so expect us to not have a build out for a while.
Whenever we feel a build is ready, we will push one out. We want our first build to be the best it can be so that there are no problems later on down the line.
